Deepavali is popularly known as ‘festival of lights’. It is celebrated between Mid-October and Mid-November for some reasons. For Hindus, Deepavali is one of their most celebrated festivals and is celebrated by families performing traditional activities in their homes. It is also like the Christmas-New Year of the Hindus.
Deepavali also translates to ‘row of lamps’. That’s why when we visited Singapore last week, some places wherein there are hindus, there are a lot of lamps and different lights decorated. These lights signify’s the triumph of good over evil. These are kept on during night and the house’s are kept cleaned so that the spirit of the hindus’ goddess Lakshimi, feels welcome. Well, that is according to my father’s co-worker.
To all the Hindus out there, a Belated Happy Deepavali to all of you! :)
